POINT LONSDALE STRUCTURE PLAN

The Point Lonsdale Structure Plan is a joint project between the Borough of Queenscliffe and the City of Greater Geelong.  The plan was developed to guide strategic planning for Point Lonsdale over the next 5-10 years.  Both Councils adopted the plan in 2009.

A Planning Scheme Amendment is now required to introduce the Structure Plan into the Planning Schemes of both municipalities and to give the document statutory weight.  In November 2009 the Borough and the City of Greater Geelong jointly requested that the Minister for Planning become the Planning Authority to undertake both amendments.

On the 2nd June, 2010, the Minister Planning advised that he would assume Planning Authority Status in order for the amendment process to be undertaken in a co-ordinated manner and to provide more clarity for the local community.  The amendment will be facilitated by the Department of Planning and Community Development.

Point Lonsdale Structure Plan (Planning Scheme Amendment C22)

In 2009 both the Borough of Queenscliffe and the City of Greater Geelong adopted the Point Lonsdale Structure plan.  A Planning Scheme Amendment is required to both Planning Schemes in order to incorporate the Structure Plan into the Local Planning Policy Framework.
In November 2009 the City of Greater Geelong and the Borough of Queenscliffe wrote to the Minister for Planning to request a joint Planning Scheme Amendment process prepared and managed by the Minister for Planning and facilitated by the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD).  In June 2010 the Minister for Planning advised that he will assume Planning Authority status for both planning scheme amendments in order for the Amendment to occur in a co-ordinated manner and with more clarity for the community.
Planning Scheme Amendment C22 to the Queenscliffe Planning Scheme and Planning Scheme Amendment C165 to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme are now on exhibition.  Submissions will be received until January 31st, 2011 and must be submitted in writing to DPCD.
